Terms & Conditions

These terms form the agreement between you (the client) and trymysite.co.uk (operated by Darren Carter, referred to below as "we", "us" or "trymysite.co.uk") when you commission us to build a website. Please read them carefully before submitting your project brief.

1. The Agreement

By submitting a project brief and paying a deposit, you agree to these terms in full. These terms govern all work carried out by trymysite.co.uk on your behalf.

If you have any questions about these terms before proceeding, please contact us at admin@trymysite.co.uk before submitting your brief.

2. What Is Included

Our standard website package includes:

  • Custom website design and build (no templates)
  • Private preview site on a trymysite.co.uk subdomain for review
  • Up to 5 rounds of revisions during the preview stage
  • Domain registration in your name
  • UK web hosting (first year included)
  • Free SSL certificate (HTTPS)
  • DNS configuration
  • Mobile-responsive design, tested across devices

For larger or more complex websites, the number of included revision rounds may be adjusted — this will be agreed with you in writing before work begins.

Anything not listed above is considered an extra and will be quoted separately. See Section 8 for details on changes and updates after go-live.

3. Payment Terms

Deposit (50%): A deposit of 50% of the agreed project fee is due before any design or build work begins. Work will not start until the deposit has been received.

Final Payment (50%): The remaining 50% of the project fee is due before we transfer your website to your live domain. The site will not go live until the final payment has cleared.

Non-Refundable Deposit: Once work has commenced on your project, the 50% deposit is non-refundable. If you choose to cancel after work has begun, the deposit is retained to cover the time and work already invested.

No Hidden Costs: The agreed project fee covers everything listed in Section 2. You will not be charged for anything extra without prior written agreement.

4. The Preview & Revision Process

Once the deposit is received, we will design and build your website on a private subdomain of trymysite.co.uk (for example, yourbusiness.trymysite.co.uk). You will be given the link to review your preview site.

Your package includes up to 5 rounds of revisions. A revision round means you send us a list of changes and we action them. Each round of feedback counts as one revision.

Revisions must be submitted in writing via your client area (the Revisions section when logged in) or by email. We cannot action verbal change requests.

If the number of revisions required exceeds what is included in your package — due to significant changes in brief, scope or direction — additional revision rounds will be charged at an agreed rate. We will notify you before any additional charges apply.

For larger websites, the number of included revisions may be increased by prior written agreement.

5. Going Live

Once you are satisfied with your preview site and have approved it, you must confirm your approval in writing (by email or via the client area).

The remaining 50% of the project fee must be paid before the site goes live. Once payment is confirmed, we will:

  • Register your domain name
  • Configure your hosting and DNS
  • Transfer the approved preview site to your live domain
  • Issue and configure your SSL certificate

The domain will be registered in your name and you will retain full ownership of it.

6. Annual Hosting & Renewal

Your first year of UK web hosting is included in your project fee.

From the second year onwards, an annual hosting renewal fee applies to keep your website online. Renewal fees for standard websites are:

  • Year 1: Included in your project fee
  • Year 2: £200 per year

For larger or more complex websites, hosting renewal fees will be agreed separately.

We will contact you in advance of your renewal date. If a renewal is not paid, we reserve the right to suspend the hosting for your website. We will always give reasonable notice before any suspension.

All renewal prices are subject to change. We will give at least 30 days written notice of any price increase.

7. Content Updates & Changes After Go-Live

Once your site is live, you may need updates from time to time. We are happy to help:

  • Small content updates (text changes, image swaps, minor edits) — contact us and we will quote for the time involved. Small changes are often quick and low cost.
  • Larger changes (new pages, new features, redesigns) — contact us for a quote. We are reasonably priced and happy to discuss your needs.

All post-launch changes are subject to a separate agreement and fee. Nothing will be changed without your approval.

8. Client Responsibilities

To allow us to complete your project on time, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information in your project brief
  • Supply any content, images, logos or copy required for your website in a timely manner
  • Respond to requests for feedback and approval within a reasonable timeframe
  • Ensure that any content you supply does not infringe third-party copyright or intellectual property rights

Delays caused by late supply of content or feedback may result in delays to your project. We are not responsible for delays caused by the client.

9. Intellectual Property

Your content: You retain full ownership of all content, images, logos and text that you supply to us.

The website: Once full payment has been received, the completed website and its design are yours. You own the finished product.

Our portfolio: We reserve the right to display your completed website in our portfolio and to reference it as an example of our work, unless you specifically ask us not to in writing before the project begins.

10. Cancellation

Cancellation before work begins: If you cancel before we have started any design or build work, your deposit will be refunded in full.

Cancellation after work has begun: The 50% deposit is non-refundable once work has commenced. No refund will be due in this case.

Cancellation by us: We reserve the right to cancel a project at any time if a client acts in a way that makes it impossible or unreasonable to continue (for example, abusive conduct, illegal content, or extended periods of non-communication). In such cases, a partial refund may be issued at our discretion based on the work completed.

11. Limitation of Liability

We will always do our best to deliver a high-quality website on time. However:

  • We are not liable for any loss of business, revenue or data arising from your website being unavailable, whether due to hosting issues, DNS propagation, or circumstances beyond our control.
  • We are not responsible for content supplied by the client that infringes third-party rights.
  • Our total liability in any circumstance is limited to the amount paid by you for the project.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you have a complaint or concern, please contact us first at admin@trymysite.co.uk — we will always try to resolve any issue fairly and promptly.
